When I was a junior majoring in early childhood education, I had Professor Margaret E. Pierce, but we all knew her as Margy. For her Curriculum and Instruction course, Margy developed a model lesson that involved teaching the class how to make guacamole. She related the steps of her lesson to the steps that we would take teaching students in a classroom. This is a profound memory of mine —I still remember these steps due to how realistic and hands-on her lesson was. A welltrusted mentor, Margy and I continue to have contact many years after my graduation. Each day when I’m in front of students in my classroom, I aspire to be a teacher like Margy.
