Danielle Aston ’14 and Julianne Earle ’16 have a lot in common. They were both biology majors at Stonehill, and both have followed a similar path to medicine since graduating.
Aston was working as a medical scribe in the emergency department at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton when Earle started working there in 2016. “Dani trained me for her job, since she was leaving to go to medical school that fall,” Earle says. They quickly connected in their two months of working together.

Aston headed off to study at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, but the two women stayed in touch. A year later, they reunited when Earle decided to attend the same school and Aston became her mentor. “Dani was the most incredible role model and mentor. Everyone needs a Dani,” Earle says.

They both decided to focus on emergency medicine. Aston went to Baystate Medical Center, in Springfield, for her residency. And a year later, when it was time for Earle’s residency, she knew her friend would be a good fit. Earle took her advice. “I trusted her opinion, and I’m so glad I did,” she says.

Aston finished a fellowship in ultrasound last year, and now she splits her time between the main Baystate hospital and a nearby community hospital, where she’s the director of emergency medicine ultrasound.

Earle will finish her fellowship in medical education in 2025 and is currently splitting her time between the same two sites where Aston works.
“It’s been really special, how close we’ve become,” Aston says. “I’m lucky to be her friend, and I’m lucky that I get to continue working alongside her!”
