Game Day
We asked three athletes how they prepare for a big competition.

Jordan Malloy ’26, Women's Cross Country
“I aim to get 8 or more hours of sleep every night, not just the night before a meet. It is important for me to focus on having a consistent diet rich in protein and carbohydrates. I need to stay healthy and energized to get the most out of my training, which will help me perform at my best during championship meets. I'm also motivated by my teammates. We are incredibly resilient and being on this team makes me feel whole and complete.”

Nathan Kearney ’27, Baseball
“I always listen to music on the bus, or in the locker room before we go out for warm-ups. This is usually when I pray or read my daily devotional that has a Bible scripture along with a message. This is very important to me and makes me feel like God is always with me. From there, playing with confidence is really the key to playing well.”

Grace Murphy ’26, Lacrosse
“I am a very ritual-oriented person. Before a game, I do my hair with two braids, put it into a bun, and finish with my lucky pink scrunchie. Then I send a selfie to one of my brothers. I've been doing that since high school. During warm-ups, I do a few stick tricks in the last two minutes, and then I have handshakes that I do with some of my teammates and our assistant coach before we go out for the game.”
