When Natalie Coutu ’26 transferred to Stonehill, she wasn’t just changing schools—she was searching for the kind of community where people show up for one another. After beginning her college journey at a much larger university, she found exactly that on the Hill. “I have never made a better decision in my life,” she said. “I love the sense of community and connectedness that Stonehill has.”
That sense of connection led Coutu to the Student Alumni Association (SAA), an organization with deep personal roots—both her father, Michael Coutu ’95, and her brother, Ryan ’24, were members during their time on campus. Through the SAA, she found a way to build relationships across majors and generations. “I was pulled into the community that the organization fostered,” she explained, “and the ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life.”
Serving as SAA’s programming chair this year, the health science major has developed leadership and communication skills that align with her interest in healthcare management. Planning alumni panels and working closely with fellow student leaders has shown her the value of intentional connection—especially during Reunion. “This past summer, I made a dozen meaningful connections with alumni,” she shared. “Hearing about their personal experiences and career paths was incredibly valuable.”
Coutu also brings that same sense of community to the women’s lacrosse team, where she’s found another close-knit family. One of her most meaningful moments came during last year’s NEC Conference Championship. “Seeing my friends, classmates and peers cram into the stands and cheering us on for five hours is something I will never forget,” she said.
As she looks ahead to graduation this spring and her plans to pursue a degree in nursing, Coutu reflects, “The SAA is a perfect step toward the future.” For her, the organization offers a meaningful way to give back—helping others discover the same sense of belonging that made Stonehill feel like home.
