Stonehill College has always believed in the power of athletics to shape character and community. In 2022, we embraced a bold new era by joining NCAA Division I and the NEC—bringing national exposure, postseason play and new opportunities for our student-athletes. Now, we’re matching their commitment with a transformational investment in facilities—the Tom & Kathleen Bogan Arena and the Athletic Fields Complex—that will elevate Stonehill Athletics and provide enriching experiences for our students, alumni and fans.

Tom and Kathleen Bogan Arena

Thanks to a generous lead gift from Tom ’72 and Kathleen Bogan, Stonehill will soon be home to Bogan Arena—a state-of-the-art sports facility located on Washington Street (Route 138). The arena will feature a basketball center and ice hockey rink, each accommodating 2,250 to 2,500 fans, along with modern training spaces, locker rooms and meeting areas, as well as premium seating, concessions and advanced media amenities.

Athletic Fields Complex

The Built to Rise campaign also includes new fields for baseball and softball, featuring turf playing surfaces, improved lighting, upgraded dugouts and bullpens, and a modern press box. This new Athletic Fields Complex will support varsity competition, club sports and intramurals year-round. Along with the Chip Salyards '88 Memorial Pavilion, the Fields Complex will create modern, dedicated spaces where athletes can train, compete and thrive, while offering fans and families an enhanced game-day experience.

Elevating Academics

Stonehill’s Division I status creates new academic opportunities for students by expanding hands-on learning across disciplines—from sport management and broadcasting to exercise science and game operations. Bogan Arena and the new athletic fields will serve as active learning labs, where students apply classroom knowledge, build professional skills and form industry connections that enhance career outcomes after graduation.

Growing Enrollment

These new facilities will strengthen recruitment and enrollment opportunities by further differentiating Stonehill and elevating our national profile. Since moving to Division I, enrollment headcount from outside the Northeast, New York and New Jersey has increased by 86 percent, with students now coming from 38 states and 35 countries, a reach that will continue to grow with continued investment.

These athletic facilities position Stonehill on the national stage, competing in major markets across the country and showcasing our student-athletes to wider audiences. This visibility not only elevates our athletic programs but also strengthens student recruitment, helping attract the next generation of Skyhawks and supporting enrollment growth for the College.
