Monday, JULY 9 - Friday, JULY 27, 2018
This course will introduce students to the art studio and the basic mechanics of drawing. Beginning students will learn to draw from observation. Further explorations into drawing from nature will encourage students to step outside of the studio and into nature as they learn skills such as perspective, mark making and the critical appreciation of their own and other's work.
Our Summer@Stonehill Pre-College Program is a high-demand program with
a competitive application process. Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2018.

Why did you decide to study studio arts and pursue a career in higher education? All children are artists but for me, all things art related became a passion by a very early age. I found myself helping others with their art projects all through school. I knew by high school a teaching career in the visual arts was my destiny. I have taught for over thirty years and the please and rewards have remained constant through all that time.
What has been your greatest experience as a professor at Stonehill? I am fortunate that my “greatest experience” as a professor occurs on a daily basis. It is thrilling to observe the pride and sense of accomplishment an artist/student experiences when he/she completes a difficult drawing or painting with maturation and success.
Who is your favorite artist? My favorite artist is Antonio Lopez Garcia. I love his paintings for their brilliant technique, color layering, mystery, and exquisitely emotional and enigmatic content.
What is your favorite movie? To Kill a Mocking Bird
Where did you go to high school? Miami Palmetto High School in Miami, FL
