Graduates who will not attend the Commencement ceremony are required to notify the Registrar's Office.

Saturday, May 16, 2020

Rehearsal is crucial to the success of Sunday's Exercises! Saturday practice for graduates will be held at 11:30 am and you will assemble behind Donahue Hall. Following a procession, President Denning will address the graduates. Graduates will then receive instructions regarding the Commencement ceremony and there will be a brief 'walk through.'

Caps & Gowns

Immediately following the rehearsal, graduates will pick up caps, hoods and gowns at the College Bookstore. They are distributed by height and they have a full supply in various height ranges. There is no fee and measurements and order forms are not required. The bookstore will be open 1-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16th. Students must pick up their own caps, gowns and hoods and each student should assure that their outfit is complete and appropriate in size before departing the Bookstore area. The gown and hood should be hung up overnight to reduce wrinkles prior to Sunday's ceremony. Other clothing worn on Sunday should be suitable for the occasion.

Baccalaureate Mass

Graduates and their families are invited to attend the Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, May 16th, at 4 p.m. at the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex. Graduates do not march in procession for the Mass and no academic robes are worn for the occasion. Please plan to sit with your families and friends for this important part of the Commencement activities.

Commencement Eve Reception

Graduates, parents and friends are invited to attend the Commencement Eve Reception immediately following the Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, May 16th.  The event takes place at the May Pavilion Tent and is organized by the Office of Student Engagement. A community-wide event celebrating the Class of 2020, the reception will include hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Stonehill faculty and staff have been invited to participate in this event. Please be sure to encourage your favorite professors to attend! Please contact the Office of Student Activities with any other questions at 508-565-1308.

If you and your family are going out to eat following the reception, please consider visiting a local area restaurant.

Sunday, May 17, 2020

All graduates report to Donahue Hall no later than 9:00 a.m. Faculty will organize the graduates in alphabetical order by degree for the commencement procession.

Commencement Procession

The procession will begin at the top of the hill at Donahue Hall and will proceed down the stairway to the quad. The graduates will be seated in the center section of the quad. The tassel is worn on the right rear side of the cap during the procession. You are to wear your class pin on your gown during the Commencement Exercises. If you did not receive your pin (they were distributed during Convocation), be sure to contact the Office of Academic Affairs.

At the completion of the Commencement Exercises, graduates process down the center aisle to a faculty reception line.

Diplomas will be available outside of the Registrar Office, room 112 in the Duffy Academic Center, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Several diploma pick-up stations will be in place for a quick and convenient process. You will exchange your name card (you will receive your name card when you are assembled for the procession) for your diploma.

All graduates are encouraged to pick up their diplomas on Sunday immediately after the ceremony. The remaining diplomas will be mailed during the week following Commencement.

The ceremony usually concludes by 12:30 p.m. If you are planning any post Commencement celebrations, such as an off campus luncheon or party, please allow additional time to exit the campus. Off campus food deliveries are not allowed due to traffic congestion. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on campus.
