What is the Community Engagement Pre-Orientation program?
The Community Engagement Pre-Orientation program at Stonehill College is free of cost and provides first-year students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an enriching experience of building community among their peers and local community members. First-year students will challenge themselves to consider what their place as a community member and active citizen will mean for them during their time at Stonehill. During this program, first-year students will be paired with a current Volunteer Coordinator who will mentor them; the first-year students, after the conclusion of this program, will be equipped to serve as ambassadors to the Community Engagement Program for their fellow members of the Class of 2023.
What is the cost of the program?
There is no cost to the program! Students will move into their academic year residence halls or commute to campus. All meals and transportation costs are covered in full.
Why does the CEP Pre-Orientation Program Exist?
This pre-orientation experience is a vital component of Stonehill’s commitment to fostering a more just and compassionate world. This program establishes an immediate connection with the CEP’s site partners and the participating first-year students in addition to providing an invaluable education on social justice and its integration with the Stonehill College experience.

What are the dates of the program?
The CEP Pre-Orientation Program begins five days prior to the Fall Orientation; the program begins at 4:00pm on Tuesday, August 20th, and concludes on Saturday, August 24th around 12:00pm. Each selected participant will move into their residence hall early, with the rest of the program, on Tuesday, August 20th, between 10:00am-3:00pm.
Who can participate in the CEP Pre-Orientation Program?
This program is open to all accepted first-year students (including commuters) with an interest in and commitment to social justice and is limited to 15 participants. Students will be expected to continue their service throughout their first-year and act as mentors to the incoming Class of 2024 during their pre-orientation experience.
