Office of Residence Life header

Dear Resident Students and Families,

We thank you for your ongoing patience and hope this email finds you healthy and safe. Now that some of the restrictions in Massachusetts have been lifted, we can proceed with allowing students to move out of the residence halls.

Move out will take place by appointment between Wednesday, May 20th and Tuesday, May 26th. To facilitate a safe process that maintains physical distancing guidelines, we ask that you review and adhere to the procedures and guidelines outlined below:

Scheduling your appointment

Students may only return to their residence hall for move out with a scheduled appointment. Each residential area has developed a detailed move-out schedule to facilitate a streamlined process and ensure physical distancing. To schedule an appointment, please visit the Residence Life COVID-19 updates page or the Residence Life website. Appointments must be scheduled by 4:30pm on the day prior to arrival. If you are unable to make any of the available timeslots, please contact the Office of Residence Life at 508-565-1290 or reslife@stonehill.edu.

Steps prior to returning for move-out

The Office of Residence Life will send a follow-up email message to each student who signs up for a move-out timeslot. In addition to your residence hall, room number and appointment time, the email will outline move out procedures that must be followed. YOU MUST PRINT THIS FOLLOW-UP EMAIL BEFORE RETURNING TO CAMPUS AND PLACE IT ON YOUR DASHBOARD FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR VISIT. Campus Police will be checking these passes at the main gate (Belmont St. entrance) to minimize the amount of traffic in our community during move-out.

Additional health and safety guidelines for move-out

Students may bring UP TO TWO individuals to help move out. Masks and gloves must be worn on campus and in the residence hall at all times. Individuals who are ill, quarantined, or sharing a living space with someone who meets this criteria may not participate in the move out process.

It is expected that individuals be as efficient as possible and adhere to their scheduled move out timeframe. As you spend time on campus, know that we are relying on all community members to practice responsible physical distancing and refrain from physical interaction of any kind.

Don't forget to bring your Hill Card and room keys

Be sure to bring your Hill Card and your room keys to ensure you have access to your residence hall and bedroom. If you do not have your room keys and are locked out, please call your residence hall duty phone number or 508-965-6685 BEFORE you get to campus, so that someone can unlock your door before your arrival.

Moving materials and tools

Students are encouraged to bring hand trucks or other packing/moving materials, as moving carts will not be provided. Please bring your own boxes, tubs, or other items to pack your belongings. We also recommend you bring trash bags and cleaning items to remove all trash and wipe down the surfaces in your bedroom prior to your departure.

Non-residence hall items

  • Library Books: The MacPháidín Library has granted students permission to keep their books for now—all due dates have been extended. More information regarding returning materials will be posted on the website as soon as possible.
  • Bookstore: All students received an email on April 14th about how to return books using a free return label. The bookstore located in Boland Hall will be open and staffed—with modified guidelines that protect health and safety—on the move-out dates.
  • Athletics Items: Student athletes should look for an email from their head coach detailing expectations about returning any issued athletic equipment and retrieve personal items from the Sports Complex and Merkert Gymnasium.

Students who live at a distance (more than 6 hours via car)

If you are unable to return to campus to move out during the scheduled timeframe, please fill out this form and a member of the Residence Life staff will be in touch to coordinate next steps.

If you have any questions that have not been addressed by this email, we can be contacted at 508-565-1290 or reslife@stonehill.edu. Otherwise, safe travels to campus, and we will see you soon.
