Mar. 19: Important COVID-19 Update
President (Rev.) John Denning, C.S.C. writes to share an update on the College's current positivity rate.
Dear Members of the Stonehill Community,
I write to share that our midweek test results have shown an increase in the number of individuals testing positive. Our colleagues throughout campus are effectively managing these cases, while identifying connections and close contacts. Please know we will continue to monitor our surveillance testing and trends.
To date, our contact tracing program has proven to be effective, as a number of our positive results have been for individuals who were already in quarantine due to a reported close contact.
While there are encouraging signs that we can work to mitigate further spread of the virus, our higher numbers are an indication that despite the diligence and dedication of our students and employees, the challenges presented by COVID-19 have not abated. The College remains prepared, if necessary, to take further steps to mitigate any additional spread of the virus to help us continue the semester, in-person, in a safe and productive manner. Additional updates will be provided early next week.
We have been navigating the pandemic together for more than a year, and I recognize and appreciate the fatigue that many of our community members feel at this time. I ask that you all continue following our health and safety protocols, knowing that our individual actions can have a major impact on the wellbeing of not just everyone on campus, but also on that of our friends and neighbors.
Thank you for your ongoing persistence and patience during these days.
(Rev.) John Denning, C.S.C.
