Office of the President Header

Dear Students,

We are writing with what will be good news for many traveling to our community for the fall semester and updates the email sent on July 17th.

This morning, Governor Baker held a press conference where he shared updated requirements for the COVID-19 Travel Order to the Commonwealth. According to the order, students coming to Stonehill from states outside of New England, New York, New Jersey, or Hawaii must quarantine for 14 days. This quarantine can be avoided, however, if you can provide proof of a negative test result for COVID-19 from a test administered on a sample taken not longer than 72 hours before your arrival in Massachusetts.

Many of you have already communicated that test results in many states are taking longer than that. If that is the case, and you have not received your negative results yet when moving onto campus, you MUST quarantine until you receive the negative result. A second option would be to come to campus and quarantine until the results of your Stonehill test come back. Stonehill will have onboard testing available at no charge Monday-Friday starting around August 5th and concluding on August 17th.   Our testing provider is able to turn tests around in approximately 24 hours.

To help clarify, here are the two options you can currently consider:

  1. Arrive on campus to move-in with a negative COVID test in hand from the last 72 hours. You will move directly into your fall assignment and not have to quarantine.
  2. Arrive on campus to quarantine while awaiting the results of your COVID test taken either at your provider of choice or at Stonehill. You will move directly into your fall assignment if your roommate is not yet on campus but need to relocate if they need to arrive or you test positive. If you choose number 2, you would need to be on campus no later than noon on August 17th. This would allow you to complete testing at Stonehill.

As we have mentioned to so many of you over the last week, we realize that constant changes imposed by the State, and others that may be coming, add considerable challenges to your planning. We also know that many have already adjusted schedules and made travel plans.  Please know that we will be ready for your arrival whether it is at the date you have already communicated or at a later date should you choose.

Please review these options carefully and reflect on what may be your best course of action. To help answer any questions you may have, we have scheduled an online meeting on Monday, July 27th at 3:00 pm EST.

We look forward to chatting with you then.
