At the 59th annual President’s Dinner on Thursday night, May 30, Rev. John Denning, C.S.C. presented trustee Robert Rivers ’86 with the President’s Award for Excellence.
Fr. Denning hailed Rivers, the President of Eastern Bank, as a business and civic leader who gives unselfishly of himself across a spectrum of issues from social justice to sustainability. Proceeds from the event, which raised over $130,000, will support scholarships and other College initiatives.
Upon being honored, Rivers recalled a senior year class assignment from Professor Bill Burke that taught him a lesson about always aiming high. He had to craft a business plan for life after college, outline the goal and show how to achieve it. For Rivers, that assignment led to his role today as successful business and civic leader.
