The Martin Institute at Stonehill is launching a new series focusing on Civic Art, Design + Media and, to mark the launch, it will host a luncheon presentation featuring Julie Burros , Chief of Arts and Culture at the City of Boston.
In 2014, Burros became Boston’s “Art Czar” with the task of elevating the City’s arts and culture profile. She holds the first such cabinet-level position in over 20 years and Mayor Marty Walsh has asked her to work with communities around the city to develop a long-range plan to highlight Boston as an international center of arts and culture. Under the banner of “Boston Creates,” Burros and the city of Boston aim to map the City’s current cultural assets and develop additional opportunities for arts and artists within the city.
