Monday Morning Update

March 5, 2018

HAPPY SPRING BREAK!: Stonehill students are off-campus until next week, but that doesn't mean they're spending their time-off on the couch! Check out a few of the ways our students are spending their week off the Hill.

HILL TO HILL D.C. EXTERNSHIP: Stonehill students interested in a career in government, politics, non-profits, and more will spend spring break in Washington D.C., interviewing and networking with Stonehill alumni living in the area.

EXTERNSHIPS IN BOSTON: Alumni in Boston are hosting students over the break for a week-long, firsthand look at more than ten local organizations, including: Boston Celtics, Brown Brothers Harriman, Dana Farber Cancer Center, Department of Homeland Security, Meditech, and W.B. Mason.

EXTERNSHIPS IN NYC: Similarly, alumni in New York City are hosting students over the break for a week-long networking experience focusing on career exploration at a number of companies, including: Do Something, Goldman Sachs, Institute for Family Health, Thompson Reuters, and United Healthcare.

H.O.P.E. IMMERSIONS IN THE U.S.: More than 50 Stonehill students, accompanied by College faculty and staff, will travel across the U.S. to Arizona, California, Maine, Oregon, Tennessee, and West Virginia, to learn about social justice issues and the struggles of Indigenous Peoples and new U.S. immigrants, and support the hungry, the homeless, and those with mental health challenges.

H.O.P.E. EXPERIENCES ABROAD: A number of Stonehill students will also be heading abroad. One group will be working in the Dominican Republic to build an understanding of integrated community development including agriculture, health care, micro-finance, and more. Another group will be in Peru, exploring issues of international poverty, access to education and natural resources, and care for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
