The MacPhaidin Library staff welcomes Sydney Orason to the position of Access Services Librarian!  We are delighted to have her on our team and encourage faculty and students to stop by and welcome her to the Stonehill community.  Sydney was kind enough to provide us with a brief biography – keep reading to learn a little about her background.

“I'm originally from Marlboro, MA, but have been living in Boston for the past eight years. I attended Emerson College for my undergraduate degree in Theatre Education and worked as a library staff member there after graduating. I went to the University of North Carolina Greensboro online for my MLIS, and I just graduated in December 2021!

I was attracted to Stonehill because of its small community. I love being able to connect with the community of my library on a deeper level, which I find is easier to do on small campuses. I also like the variety of programs at Stonehill - there's something for everyone!

While I love teaching and being involved in the performing arts, I found my heart drawn to libraries since I was a library student worker at Emerson and found that the best way for me to "teach" was to spread knowledge and promote information literacy through academic libraries.

Outside of libraries, I spend my free time embroidering and love to explore small towns around New England. I have a cat named Darcy who is two years old as well who takes up much of my time with her antics. Funny enough, my roommate attended Stonehill for her undergraduate degree and is now an archivist at Emerson, so we traded alma maters!”
