Welcome back, Skyhawks. We hope you had a restful break. As we begin the Spring 2022 semester, we want to remind you of some of the resources and services that are available to you. Whether you need research support, a quiet place to study, or an entertaining diversion, MacPhaidin Library has you covered.

Meet with a Librarian – You can use LibCal, our online scheduler, to book an in-person or Zoom appointment with a librarian. Librarians can assist you with your research, help you properly format your bibliography, and more. If you don’t see an appointment time that meets your needs, you are welcome to stop in at or call The Desk at 508-565-1313 and we’ll work to find a meeting time that accommodates your schedule.

Stay Up to Date – The MacPhaidin Library provides all members of the Stonehill Community with free electronic access to the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. You will be required to fill out a short registration form for each publication. Remember to use your Stonehill email address when filling out those forms to confirm you are still affiliated with the college.

Take Advantage of More Free Stuff Courtesy of the Boston Public Library - The Boston Public Library allows any resident of Massachusetts (including college students from out-of-state) to get a BPL eCard. You don’t need to worry about driving the 25 miles into Boston, though, you can sign up for your card online and immediately enjoy a host of resources. In addition to research databases and newspapers, you will have full access to the extensive e-book and audiobook collection through Overdrive. Hoopla is a downloadable app that gives you access to the library’s streaming movies, music and television shows in addition to even more eBooks and audiobooks. RBdigital allows you to read new issues of popular magazines such as Glamour, Newsweek, Wired, and Billboard.  Lynda.com is an online training service with classes on everything from Photoshop and Excel to project management and game design.

Check out the Library of Things – Located on the first floor of the library, across from The Desk, the library of things has a collection of items for your entertainment (game consoles, board games, baking supplies, craft materials) as well as a variety of helpful items (chargers, calculators).

…and don’t forget our Leisure Reading Collection – The Leisure reading collection is located next to the Library of Things and contains a wide assortment of popular fiction.

We’re glad you’re back and wish you the very best for the Spring 2022 semester.
