"I cannot even begin to express my gratitude to you for your kindness and generous financial support towards my higher education. I want reflect with gratitude on the importance of financial aid, grants and student loans in helping me to finance my education. Receiving this scholarship has certainly helped to reduce my financial burden and provide assistance for me as I prepare to complete my education at Stonehill College.  I truly appreciate this generous gift, and feel privileged to have been awarded this scholarship.

My college experience thus far has taught me that nothing happened by yourself and you need a team to do it. That’s why I appreciate this scholarship so much.

Without a doubt, the Thomas Folliard Memorial Scholarship will play a key role in achieving my educational dreams. I am able to concentrate on what is important for me – my education. One day, I hope I will be able to help other students achieve their goal just as you have helped me."

Recipient, Thomas J. Folliard III Memorial Scholarship

The Thomas J. Folliard III Memorial Scholarship, established in 2006 by Thomas J. Folliard IV, in memory of his father, is awarded annually to a Stonehill student athlete with at least a 3.0 GPA and in need of financial aid.

Stonehill College’s former Head Men's Basketball Coach and Director of Athletics Tom Folliard was one of the founding fathers of the then Northeast-7 Conference. Folliard served in his dual capacity from 1978 through 1984 and guided Stonehill to an overall mark of 102-68 (.600) during his tenure that included three straight conference championships and three straight berths in the NCAA Division II Tournament, marking the only time that either of those feats have been accomplished in the program's history.

Folliard played basketball at Providence College and was a member of the 1961 N.I.T. Championship team. Prior to Stonehill, he was Athletic Director and Basketball Coach at Bryant College from 1968-1978 and after Stonehill he was Head Coach at Florida Tech from 1984 until he retired in 1991.

He finished with a career record of 399 wins and 212 losses having taken 3 different schools to the NCAA tournament. He has been inducted into 5 Halls of Fame: Stonehill, Bryant, and Florida Tech as a coach, the NE-10 Conference as a founding father and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
