Biography

Lauren Hindman is an assistant professor of sport management. Her research interests include gender and diversity in sport organizations. She has completed studies on topics like sexism, gendered leadership networks and gendered discourses in the sport industry. Her work has been published in the Journal of Sport Management, European Sport Management Quarterly, the Sport Management Education Journal and the Journal of Change Management

Hindman has more than a decade of marketing and management experience, including nine seasons with professional sport teams. She most recently served as the senior director of marketing for the Texas Stars (AHL). 

Hindman earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a master’s degree from Drexel University. She received a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where her dissertation analyzed gendered structures and social practices of sport organizations through an ethnographic study. She is a recipient of the UMass Amherst Graduate School’s Research Enhancement and Leadership Fellowship and has received grants funding her research from the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and the UMass Graduate School.
