Bellwether: A Portrait of Turbulence, Gallery Reception
Carole Calo Gallery
Please join us for a reception with the artist, Stacy Latt Savage on March 21st from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Carole Calo Gallery.
For the installation Bellwether: A Portrait of Turbulence, Stacy Latt Savage was inspired to interpret how energy moves and the tangible idea of action-reaction. She researched the visual structures of hurricanes and air turbulence, water ripple effects, Venn diagrams and the composition of nuclei. She reflected on growth patterns from the natural world, such as the Fibonacci spiral that can be found from our inner ear to the cosmos and everywhere in between, connecting the micro to the macro, the individual experience to global events. Emotional patterns from human relationships also factored into the evolution of this installation, especially those that repeat over and over despite their failure. Ultimately, the square and the circle moving to the cube and the sphere – the 2D to 3D swirling together in this choreographed space - became her metaphor for the omni-present cultural anxiety on this globe at this time.
