Walk through our dining commons this time of year and you’ll hear more than a few shrieks of joy and enthusiastic high fives accompanied by the mention of places such as Goldman Sachs, Google, Notre Dame, Mass General Hospital and Teach For America.

By graduation day, most Stonehill students will have secured a job, graduate school placement or a position in a year-of-service program. Others will reward themselves with some time off during the summer, but within a year 98 percent of them will be settled into the next step on their professional journey.

It’s a reflection of our time-tested formula that combines rigorous academics, enriching service opportunities, competitive career-specific internships and an advising program that ensures every student has the knowledge and experiences necessary to find success no matter how they define it.

Take a minute to read reflections on that formula from seniors who already know what they’ll be doing after graduation.

Kate Morneault

Ernst & Young, tax staff

“Most of my accounting professors have had years in the professional world so it is great that they can discuss their true-life experiences in the field with us. Through all of the opportunities and support that Stonehill has provided, I have been able to overcome challenges and continuously grow into the best version of myself.”

Berger Chery

PricewaterhouseCoopers, assurance associate

“The education I received at Stonehill has prepared me to succeed in the corporate world. The two strong internships I had in my field allowed me to apply the materials I learned in class to real-world situations. I had the pleasure of working with some of the most wonderful professors and career counselors at Stonehill, who took genuine interest in my study and ensured that I achieved my goal.”

Rachel Webber

University of New England College of Pharmacy, pharmacy doctorate program

“Working closely with my advisor and other professors allowed me to make sure I was on track each year and make sure I had all of the necessary prerequisites for pharmacy school. The professors here at Stonehill really want students to learn and understand the material and the small class sizes allow students and professors to get to know each other.”

Lindsey Rogers

University of Rhode Island, doctorate of physical therapy

“I have been in love with biology since high school but my love for learning extended far beyond science. Stonehill, with its liberal arts program, allowed me to explore widely while still allowing me to focus on what I love. I truly believe that it is through my time taking classes that were not required for my major and engaging in Stonehill's unique community service opportunities that I have matured into a well-rounded individual, with a love and understanding of others that I otherwise would not have.”

Computer Science/Economics

Matthew Messier

Fidelity, software engineer

“Internships, internships, internships. Real experience in your field, or even the knowledge of what you do not want to do, is extremely valuable. Seek out Career Services from day one.”

Connor Andersen

Thermo Fisher Scientific, finance leadership development program

“I interned at Yale New Haven Health System between my sophomore and junior year in the Financial Planning and Budgeting Department. After that great exposure I took my experience to Thermo Fisher Scientific as a finance intern. This lead to my full-time position at Thermo Fisher beginning July.”

Healthcare Administration

Michael Ellis

Athenahealth, healthcare transactions associate

“I attribute much of my success to a strong alumni network that brought me to Tufts Medical Center, and to a supportive Career Services team that encouraged me to take risks as a freshman looking to expand my interests. Most notably, I attribute my success to securing mentors who have sought to develop me both personally and professionally.”

Julia Afeltra

MITRE Corp., software engineer

“The flexibility in classes that Stonehill offers allowed me to have a double major in two different areas of study. Having a combination of majors allowed me to develop different types of skills and approach problems from unique vantage points, which I believe is a skill that will help me in any future job I may have.”

Julian (Reese) Bomberger

Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest, year-of-service program

“As a member of our Student Alumni Association I saw the true power of the Stonehill alumni network and their dedication to give back to current students. After my year of service, I am interested in combining my passion for business and social responsibility into my future endeavors. I would never have been able to discover these passions or possibilities without my Stonehill experience.”

Psychology/Interdisciplinary Studies

Ryann Graves

Colorado Technical University, admissions support counselor

“The faculty test your limits but there was never a class in which I was allowed to fail. In learning to work with and trust my faculty, they learned to work with and trust me, which is something I think is amazing. Professors and staff at Stonehill want you to succeed ... And if you let them, they will help you do so.”

Spanish/International Business

Theresa Ruszczyk

WinterWyman, staffing associate

“I've had three internships throughout my time here, and my most recent one lead to a job offer. Stonehill really encourages students to do more than just learn in the classroom. I am thankful that the culture at Stonehill pushed me to be involved in a multitude of on-campus activities, study abroad and pursue internships. I am thankful that my well-rounded experience led to such a great post-graduation opportunity at a company I love. ”
