Stonehill’s longstanding emphasis on financial aid and academic advising has garnered it the No. 8 spot on a national ranking of colleges based on affordability and four-year graduation rates.
Best Choice Schools, a national online resource for prospective college students and their families, compiled the list knowing that students and families were increasingly concerned about the expense of a college education.
“Completing an undergraduate degree in four years is not only easier on the budget, but it means getting out into the workforce earlier than students who need more time to graduate,” BCS notes.
Nearly 80 percent of Stonehill students graduate in four years, double the national average. Stonehill has also been recognized for helping its students manage their college costs. The College’s average financial aid award in 2015-16 was $29,098 and Forbes recently reported the College’s student loan default rate as the 13th lowest in the country.
Such aid and financial advising, combined with rigorous academic programs, internship network, research opportunities and renowned study abroad program, makes Stonehill competitive in pricing and value, even against public colleges, where taking five years or more to achieve a bachelor’s degree has become common.
