France 2019: Exploring the Birthplace of Blessed Basil Moreau and the Congregation of the Holy Cross - October 11-21, 2019 

The Stonehill College Alumni Travel Program is pleased to present France: Exploring the Birthplace of Blessed Basil Moreau and the Congregation of the Holy Cross. 

This 11-day educational tour, which departs on October 11th and returns on October 21st, will take travelers to Paris, Mont St. Michel, Le Mans, Lourdes, Normandy, and other amazing locations. 

 The tour starts in Paris “The City of Light” where travelers will explore the cobblestone streets of Montmartre, the historic district where the likes of Picasso, Van Gogh, Derain, and countless other artists lived and worked.  The journey will continue with a tour of the famous landmarks of the city such as the Opera House, the Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. 

 From Paris, the tour continues to Normandy to visit Omaha Beach where Allied troops stormed ashore to launch the D-Day invasion.  A visit to the American Military Cemetery and Monument with complete the day before the tour heads to Mont St. Michel to visit the famed monastery that sits atop the island.  

 After departing Mont St. Michel, the tour continues to Le Mans where travelers will visit historic sites including the Shrine of Basil Moreau, Cathedral of Saint Julien, and the village of Laigne-en-Belin, which is the birthplace of Blessed Basil Moreau, founder of the Congregation of the Holy Cross. 

Travelers will also visit Tours, home to the beautiful 16th century Château de Chenonceau and Château d'Amboise, the royal residence of Charles VIII.  The trip wraps up by traveling south through the heartlands of the French countryside to the shrine city of Lourdes where the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette, the poor shepherd girl in the Grotto of Massabielle. 

This trip costs $3,862 per person (credit), $3,749 per person (check) (double occupancy) and includes round trip airfare from Boston, hotel accommodations, breakfast daily, five dinners, and the full-time services of a tour director.
