Checklist and Deadlines
Please review our New-Student Checklist below and complete tasks as soon as you can.
All students must take the College Writing Preparedness Survey. This survey helps us to identify whether you are interested in or would benefit from additional writing instruction and support while you take your First-Year Seminar. In this survey, you will provide information about your writing and reading habits; you will also have an opportunity to indicate your interest in our Writing Practicum course, which students can take alongside their First-Year Seminar.
If you have taken German, French, Italian or Spanish in high school, you must take a Language Placement Exam in each of the languages you studied—even if you plan to study a different language at Stonehill. You may continue with a language you have previously studied, at the appropriate level, as determined by our placement formula. HOWEVER, you are not required to continue with the same language. You may also choose to satisfy the General Education Language requirement by taking the elementary level of a different language, including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin and Spanish.
If you are intending to major in Astronomy, Computer Science, Earth & Planetary Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Photonics, or Physics, you must take the Calculus Readiness Assessment. This helps us assess whether we should provide you with additional resources to ensure your success in Calculus in the fall semester.
If you are majoring in one of the other sciences, you are NOT required to take the Calculus Readiness Assessment because the recommendation is to take Pre-Calculus prior to taking Calculus. You should only take the Calculus Readiness Assessment if you have a strong background in Calculus and would like to be considered for being able to bypass Pre-Calculus and go directly into Calculus.
At the end of your senior year, please have your final transcript sent to the Admission Office by your high school.
The Hill Card, your student ID, is used to access residence halls and other campus resources. All new students must provide a photo for use on their Hill Card by July 24, 2020.
Fall semester bills are due August 1, 2020. Students can access the billing portal by logging into myHill and going to myBill.

Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates is an online learning program that addresses the critical issues of sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking, which impact countless college students each year.
A link to your Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates assignment will be sent to your Stonehill email account in early to mid-August. The assignment must be completed prior to your arrival to campus and the start of fall classes.

One dose of the Meningitis vaccine (Men ACWY or MCV4) is required for all full-time students. The vaccine must have been received on or after the student’s 16th birthday. The Meningitis Waiver should be filled out only if the student declines receiving the vaccine and after reviewing the waiver information.
Massachusetts requires all college students have health insurance. Students can enroll in the Stonehill College Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or waive it by providing proof of comparable health insurance coverage.
Optional Tasks - Billing
As a supplement to our refund policy, Stonehill offers optional tuition refund insurance for those who withdraw for medical reasons. The deadline to enroll in this insurance is the the day before classes start for the semester. Further details regarding this plan will be available after July 1, 2020.
Optional Tasks - Accommodations
Stonehill College recognizes that some students and employees may prefer to use first names other than their legal name. Students wishing to use a chosen first name must initiate this request with the Office of Intercultural Affairs.
Optional Tasks - Career Planning
First-year students are encouraged to take the Strong Interest Inventory early so that they can receive their unique career profile reports. After classes have started, you will be able to make an appointment through the Career Development Center to have it interpreted.
