Career Exploration

The Office of Career Services offers abundant resources to help you explore different career paths and discover your own career aspirations.

Career Advising:
Career Counselors are available to assist you with questions, career plans, decisions and dilemmas. To make an appointment with the appropriate advisor, depending on your topic or concern, please call 508-565-1325, or stop by Career Services, located on the first floor of Cushing-Martin Hall.
Drop-in appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1-3 pm during the academic year.

The Stonehill Alumni Mentor Database connects you with alumni who are eager and willing to share their experiences and expertise.  They can provide very specific information on particular career paths or offer general career advice.  The type of guidance will vary with each individual: for example, some will offer informational interviews, while others might provide a shadowing opportunity.

Self-Assessments:
The Strong Interest Inventory
- for first-year and second-year students to use as a tool for choosing a major (Call Career Services at x1325 or Counseling and Testing Center at x1331 to register)

FOCUS-2
Who is it for?

The FOCUS helps college students and persons in career transition to develop an accurate picture of their personal strengths, needs and preferences. Whether you are exploring education or career paths, this can help you discover and explore options that match your interests, personality, values and skills.
How Long Does FOCUS Take?
On average, approximately 40 minutes, you can spend additional time researching different occupational choices, and checking out the 300+ occupational videos. A great deal of career-related information can be found in this assessment, and we encourage you to review it as many times as you wish. You do not have to do the assessment all at once. You can log back on to FOCUS at any time.
Please Note:
To optimize your use of FOCUS, be sure to "Combine Your Assessment Results" to narrow and refine your exploration of education and career fields based on all of your FOCUS assessment results. Remember that the system is case sensitive.
