Learning Community: Ecology and Ethics in Action: Restoring the Everglades

In this academic learning community, students take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it in the field. The integrative seminar section of this community is actually a travel course during Winter Break, camping in the Everglades.

EV 270-A: Environmental Ethics
LC 237 Integrative Seminar: BI 298/EV 270

The integrative seminar of this LC builds on the Principles of Environmental Science and Environmental Ethics courses. Students conduct ecological studies while exploring the ethical dimensions of the development of South Florida and the current restoration of the Everglades.

WHO'S INVOLVED

Sue Mooney, Associate Professor of History and Philosophy of Science, taught the Environmental Ethics course. Mooney co-facilitated the Integrative Seminar with Gregory Maniero, Assistant Professor of Biology. Maniero taught the Principles of Environmental Science course. Karen Talentino, Dean of Faculty and Professor of Biology, and Richard Grant, Assistant Dean and Director of Academic Services also led the trip.
