Some examples of the post-Stonehill studies of our students:

A recipient of the Stonehill College Joseph Martin Outstanding Senior Award and the Department’s Award for Excellence in the field of International Relations, Chrislie Lopez ‘03 graduated from American University’s Washington College of Law in 2006 and is specializing in the area of civil litigation. While at American, Chrislie wrote for the Journal of Gender, Social Policy, and The Law, spent a summer studying in Chile, and clerked at both the law firm of Bou &Bou and the Washington DC Superior Court.

The Department’s first SURE scholar, Sarah Stazsak ‘04 received the Department’s Reardon Award for excellence in Political Science. She collaborated with Professor Finnegan on a 2003 SURE grant on Irish government decision making. Sarah is pursuing her Ph.D. in Politics at Brandeis University and has presented her research to the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association. She is working on a dissertation that studies the durability of the legalization of public policy and why some policies, once legalized, stay that way despite contrary efforts, and why some are apparently more susceptible to de-legalization. She is currently a doctoral fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Recognized by the Department for excellence in the study of Political Theory, Matt Jackson ’05 earned a Master’s degree in Politics at New York University, focusing on Political Theory and Moral Philosophy. While at Stonehill he worked as a teaching assistant for Power, Order, and Justice . Matt's Capstone paper explored the theoretical and ethical issues at stake in Darfur, Sudan.
