Reference Liaison Program
Program Description
For faculty and students a Library Reference Liaison can be your link to the extensive range of services and resources offered by the Reference Department and the rest of the library. A Liaison is a Reference Librarian who focuses improving Reference services to his or her assigned departments. Each department has been assigned a Liaison, but all members of the Stonehill Community are encouraged to use the services of any of the members of the library staff. See below for a list of Liaisons and departments.
Goals of the Program
• Facilitate library collaboration with the departments.
• Increase library awareness of faculty needs
• Improve library Reference services to the Stonehill Community
• Strengthen access to the library's materials
What your Library Reference Liaison can do for you
• Provide your students with information literacy instruction
o Instruction can be provided in a way that best fits the needs of your class:
As one session in the library or in your classroom
In multiple, potentially shorter, sessions either at the library on in your classroom
As an embedded presence on your e-learn page
In any other format that is beneficial to your needs.
• Provide discipline specific or course specific training tailored to your assignments
• Assist with assessment related to student learning outcomes
• Provide one-on-one consultation to faculty and students
• Help you to locate and evaluate appropriate print and electronic resources
• Provide you with guides tailored to your classes
• Assist you in adding resources to your e-learn pages
• Provide specialized reference assistance for your students
• Brainstorm effective research assignments
• Refer you to other library staff members, as appropriate
