We'll have coffee, tea, and cookies available if you'd like to come early for informal chat with your colleagues
10:00 Overview of Rank & Tenure Process (Joe)
Joe will kick things off with an overview of the basics of the R&T process, including information about:
- picking your outside reviewers
- advocating for yourself throughout the process
- navigating service expectations/development opportunities
10:30 Q&A with Joe and the Rank & Tenure Committee
Joe, along with Karen Anderson (Education) and Rob Carver (Business), members of this year's R&T Committee, will answer your questions about the process and strategies for managing it
11:30 Course Evaluations: improving them/translating them (Stacy)
Stacy will review what she's learned from mid-semester conversations with students about what improves their perceptions of a course and its instructor. We'll also discuss strategies for using your end-of-semester course evaluations to tell the story of your teaching.
Over lunch, you'll have three options for informal breakout sessions: 1) meeting with Joe to talk about the Pre-Tenure Review process, 2) getting feedback on your pre- tenure/tenure statement draft, or 3) continuing the conversation about using your course evaluations to tell the story of your teaching.
1:00 Q&A with recently tenured faculty
Erin O'Hea (Pyschology) and Lee McGinnis (Business) will join us to discuss what they've learned about establishing and sustaining a research agenda and to answer your questions about how they successfully navigated the tenure process.
