May 10, 2011

Associate Professor and Chair of Stonehill's Business Administration Department Debra Salvucci has been named the Massachusetts Society of CPA's Outstanding Educator of the Year for 2011. Salvucci will receive the award at the group's annual awards ceremony on May 12 at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston. In addition to the award, she will receive a check for $1,000 which will be matched with an additional $1,000 check for Stonehill's Accounting program.

The award recognizes Salvucci's excellence in teaching and in motivating students, her contribution to the accounting profession, her active participation in the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, as well as her efforts in serving as a liason between the classroom and the business world.

"This honor is a reflection of the high professional regard that Professor Salvucci is held in by her accounting peers. She brings that level of experience to her leadership of the Business Administration Department and to her interactions with our business students. She is a first class department chair and a great ambassador for the College," said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Katie Conboy.

Salvucci has been teaching at Stonehill since 1984. In 1994, she received the Louise F. Hegarty Award for Excellence in Teaching.
