Blueprint Expands Offerings at Stonehill

April 19, 2011

Blueprint Signature Summer Programs, Stonehill's partner for pre-college programs, will return to campus, and this year they will be offering participants more variety.

In addition to the Creative Writing and Business classes that were offered last summer, this year's Blueprint students will have the opportunity to study Political Science and Psychology.

"Last year at Stonehill was such a phenomenal experience for us," said Blueprint co-founder Justin Laman. "The campus staff made our program run like clockwork, and it was a treat to work with Stonehill faculty like Eddie Rhee. I think we're very fortunate to be able to return this year with even more ambitious plans, knowing that we'll be supported by such stellar people."

Blueprint aims to give high school students a preview of college life. For many of the participants, it will be the first time they have stayed in a dorm or experienced college-level coursework. "Thinking about college can be incredibly daunting," said Blueprint co-founder Michael Dodson. "We want to give students more control over that decision, and spending time at Stonehill gives them a chance to see what college is going to be like."

In addition to the new courses, Blueprint will extend the length of the program this year, giving students the option to spend from one to four weeks on campus beginning on June 26. They will also make excursions to Boston, Cape Cod and Portland, Maine.

"Blueprint was such a fun and energetic group last summer," said Peter Ubertaccio, Director of the Martin Institute at Stonehill. "I'm glad that their students will be spending even more time with us this year so they can really see what Stonehill has to offer."
