Allyson Manchester ’11. For travel with Professor Ellen Scheible to the James Joyce archive at the SUNY Buffalo library. This trip was part of a larger research project that Allyson and Professor Scheible pursued on James Joyce and the Literary Archive. In Buffalo, they researched new trends in Genetic Criticism. Michelle Jaques ’11. For travel to Minneapolis, MN to attend the Association for Science Teacher Education International Conference in January. Michelle will be presenting at a poster session with Professor Eunmi Yan. The research being presented was completed as part of the SURE program of the past summer 2010. The title of their poster is "Investigation into Teachers' Understandings of the Nature of Science (NOS) and Development of a NOS Assessment Questionnaire."
Chris Tassone ’11 and Harry Livingston ’11. For travel to Sardinia, Italy to help a farmer develop his agriturismo . We removed weeds and rocks from fields, tilled soil, planted olive trees, and even cleared trees from a riverbed to make firewood and restore the flow of a nearby water stream. This was through an organization called the Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) The experience was one that neither of us will ever forget, and living with the locals in a very rural farming...
