Flying the Flag

June 14, 2010

Celebrated on June 14, Flag Day commemorates the adoption of our nation's flag, which occurred in 1777 at the Second Continental Congress.

Flag Day was officially created in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson and, in 1949, Congress established National Flag Day.

In the photo (above) the American flag flies on the hill in front of Donahue Hall, one of the highest points on campus. American flags fly at several other destinations on lower campus.
