Marketing Student Lands Summer Job and Scholarship
May 05, 2010

Marketing major Lindsay Martin '12 has been named one of just two recipients of the NEDMA (New England Direct Marketing Association) Direct Marketing Scholarship. In addition to receiving $3,000 towards her tuition, Martin will also attend two conferences on direct marketing through the NEDMA Foundation.
This summer, Martin will be working as a full-time paid intern at Polaris Direct, a letter shop and print management company that works in the direct mail industry in her hometown of Hooksett, NH. There, she will be working on various projects, including examining the role of social media in direct marketing.
Martin will also write press releases, proof prints, and work with customer service representatives and Polaris Direct's quality control team.
"As a busy and fast growing company, they assured me that there would always be numerous assignments that I could become involved with," notes Martin. "Their goal is to help me gain experience in various functions of their business so that I may learn more about direct marketing, as well as the office environment itself."
Martin was recommended by Professor Geoffrey Lantos, Director of the Marketing Program at Stonehill College. "I am very, very proud of Lindsay," commented Lantos. "She is bright, hard-working, professional, and a nice person. I know she'll do great work for Polaris Direct and benefit greatly from this wonderful opportunity."
NEDMA is a regional, professional association for all those interested in direct marketing. Membership is composed of leading area companies that use direct marketing, direct marketing agencies, independent professionals, educators, and students.
NEDMA sponsors an extensive series of events, including business/dinner meetings with forums and networking immediately preceding the meetings.
