Mentoring Through Art

Stonehill College's Arts Outreach: Mentoring Through Photography and Visual Arts, in collaboration with the 19 year-old non-profit, Artists for Humanity, pairs Brockton elementary students with Stonehill College mentors during the academic year.

The program has been serving Brockton area youth for 11 years and continues to grow in scope and effectiveness. This year West Middle School students met for 3 hours per week with their college and high school mentors to learn visual arts (comprising of both 2-D and 3-D studio practice) and photography.

Eyes in Sharp Focus: The book!

In spring 2010, Stonehill College and Artists for Humanity published a book titled, Eyes in Sharp Focus, which showcases the mentoring experience and features art created by the participating students.

This project is supported in by the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office and their Weed and Seed Initiative, and by the U.S. Department of Justice's O.J.J.D.P.
