2010 Martin Fellow in Letters:Student Writing Contest

The Joseph W. Martin Institute for Law and Society at Stonehill College invites all students to submit poetry, fiction, personal or journalistic essays, related to its 2009-2010 theme of Global Citizenship/Global Community for its 2010 student writing contest.
Honors & Awards
A $500 Honorarium will be awarded to one student whose work powerfully and uniquely investigates and responds to the theme of "Global Citizenship/Global Community". In addition to the honorarium, the winning student will receive the title, Martin Fellow in Letters, will have their work published in Rolling Stonehill, and will receive bound copies of the work. One copy will remain on display in The Martin Institute.
Two other students will receive Honorable Mentions, and their work will also be placed on display in The Martin Institute.
The Martin Fellow in Letters will chair a student committee comprised of the students receiving Honorable Mentions to organize the Martin Student Writing Contest in 2010-2011. The Martin Fellow will also serve on the committee to choose next year's winners.
Entrants
All entries must be from current Stonehill students. Submissions should be original, unpublished work demonstrating superior quality of expression and craftsmanship.
Submission Guidelines & Deadline
Manuscripts
Entries must be typewritten (one-sided only, please) double-spaced, and accompanied by a cover sheet with the following information:
- title,
- word count,
- author's name,
- address,
- phone number, and
- e-mail address.
Of this information, only the title should appear on the manuscript itself.
Entries should not exceed 7,500 words. No entrant may send more than 1 submission.
Deadline
Entries must be delivered to The Martin Institute, Room 234 by February 26, 2010. Winners will be chosen by members of the Martin Institute Faculty Steering Committee with assistance from others.
Notification Date
Winners will receive notification in mid to late March.
Publication & Exhibition
All winning work will also be put on display for Academic Achievement Day and the College's Honors Ceremony. The winning essay will be published in Rolling Stonehill.
