The Office of Intercultural Affairs is pleased to announce an essay contest for the Class of 2012. Four winners will be selected, awarded $25 gift cards to the Stonehill bookstore and have their essays uploaded to the Stonehill website. Members of the Class of 2012 who are inspired by Dr. King's values of courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service are encouraged to submit a reflective essay in honor of Dr. King's official holiday celebrated on January 18, 2010.
The Sophomore Disorientation Program, sponsored by the Office of Career Services, will be held on this day.
As a way to encourage participation on this holiday as a "Day on, not a Day off", the Office of Intercultural Affairs invites you to reflect on this following quote from Dr. King:
"Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for human rights. You will make a greater person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in."
As you embark on this year in your life, a time to reflect on careers, majors, internships, leadership, and community service, we encourage you to reflect on what Dr. King's words mean in your life and in your career goals.
The deadline to enter the contest is 12:00pm, Friday, January 8, 2010.
