“Utilizing Hip Hop for Educational and Social Transformation” in M204

Together, we will frame the issues of concern and strength within Hip-Hop culture by providing in-depth analysis from parents, teachers and scholars. A great session for teachers, education majors, hip-hop fans, and individuals learning to be more inclusive in a classroom setting.

Facilitated by Marcella Runell Hall

“Catholic Social Teaching: in M205

Catholics believe in an inherent dignity of the human person. Learn about the foundations of Catholic social teaching (which include preferential option for the poor and vulnerable, opposing racism, dignity of work, and others) and share how the practice of inclusion exists in this philosophy. Facilitated by Joe Miller, Campus Minister, Stonehill College

“Intercultural Communication and the Post-Graduate Process” in Martin 206

Beginning with personal testimonials and stories of our own students, get a first hand look at the challenges many of our graduates face today upon entering a diverse world. How do we prepare our students and ourselves for not only coping with these challenges but also embracing diversity on all levels? Facilitated by Christina Burney, Associate Director of Career Services

5:50 - 6:25pm Dialogue Dinner (Martin Auditorium)

In diverse groups, we will come together to dialogue about experiences with inclusion, share stories, and learn more about ways in which we can be more inclusive of others.

6:25 – 7:10pm Session II Options

“Fish Out of Water” a discussion of faith and LGBT ally development in M204

“Fish Out of Water” is a documentary that takes the subject of LGBT and the Bible seriously, but not itself seriously, by exploding the conventional arguments of hate. Facilitated by Stonehill PRIDE

“How Student Government Organizations Can Transform Diversity” in M205

When students take the reins and create opportunities to lead diversity initiatives, change can happen quickly! Learn about the ways in which Student Government Associations can empower the student body. Faculty and staff would also benefit from dialoguing with students about how to make change on the college campus. Facilitated by Stonehill Student Government Executive Board

“Inclusive Programs and Dialogue: A tool box session” in M206

Sometimes the best way to learn about inclusion is to practice inclusion! We’ll go through some scenarios, exercises, and situations and come up with opportunities for inclusion. Sure to be a fun and interactive workshop! Facilitated by Liza Talusan, Director of Intercultural Affairs
