Standard 2. Planning & Evaluation - Projection

All those directly involved in the strategic planning process -- the Strategic Planning Committee, the Office of Planning and Institutional Research, the Assistant Vice President for Planning, the Divisional Vice Presidents and the President, with oversight from the Board of Trustees -- will continue to review and refine the planning process for improvements. At the management level, the Assistant VP for Planning and the Office of Planning and Institutional Research will continue to work with divisional representatives to refine and simplify the operational planning process.

The College will continue to expand and improve its assessment and evaluation protocols. The strategic plan for 2011-2015 recommends that specific student outcomes goals be defined in areas where they currently do not exist, and that additional support be provided to academic departments that need assistance in establishing an assessment program. As a preliminary step, the Provost named a faculty member as Special Assistant to the Dean for Assessment for 2009-10. He will work directly with the Dean of the Faculty and academic department chairs in this area. Moreover, we will implement modest changes to the program review process, which will continue on a seven-year cycle beginning in academic year 2010 and will include interdisciplinary programs not associated with a specific department.

The College will continue to encourage institutional constituents to make use of available evaluation information and to improve mechanisms by which evaluation data is made available. Stonehill is currently in the process of replacing its administrative system with a unified data system (Banner) which should make data access easier for the College community at large.
