Standard 7. Library and Other Information Resources
Information Technology has changed dramatically over the last decade, and Stonehill College is now in the process of responding to those technological developments. Until 2008, when the College hired new leadership in IT, we suffered from a highly decentralized approach to technology implementation. Information was housed in multiple databases, and sophisticated reports with accurate information required the assistance of the Department of Administrative Computing and/or the Office of Planning and Institutional Research. In many ways, the Library was the most focused of our information entities, staying on top of the need to replace its servers and to upgrade electronic access, regularly training students and faculty to use the collections, and anticipating the ways technologies could be used in instruction and assessment. The Library is housed in the Academic Division, as is a Director of Instructional Technology, and while the broader Information Technology Department is managed by a CIO in the Finance Division, these entities all work together on common goals.
