Serving with the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Iraq, Amy Cordova ’04 is familiar with fast-rolling sand storms that can turn a day into darkness. The legal assistant and fiscal law attorney for the Brigade, Cordova took this photo of a sand storm gathering pace. Mindful & Prayerful: Nuns from the Unified Buddhist Church in the Sports Complex at the opening of a six-day retreat on mindful and peaceful living. More than 900 people joined the Buddhist monks and nuns in the retreat, which is being led by the Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, the world’s best-known living Buddhist after Tibet’s Dalai Lama. Rhonda Nickley and Jennifer Heine in Student Financial Services heard that W.B. Mason was inviting folks to see the 2004 & 2007 Red Sox World Series Trophies. They knew no one would appreciate the experience more than custodian and lifelong Red Sox fan Arthur Karlson. A champion in his own right, Karlson is retiring after 34 years of keeping the Duffy Academic building in immaculate condition. July 27, 2009.

Proposal: On their first date, Craig Barry ’05 and Sandy Parker ’05 walked up the Hill at Donahue. When Craig wanted to propose to Sandy, he enlisted the help of a Love Team who lured her back to Donahue. As Sandy stood on the steps with her friends, Craig emerged. Going on bended knee, he asked for her hand in marriage. Lisa Richards ’99, part of the Love Team along with Megan Killilea ’04 and Angela Frey ’06, was on hand to take a photo of the special occasion. July 19, 2009.
