Stonehill College Prayer Book

The College hopes to provide a resource for personal prayer and devotion for all those affiliated with Stonehill College.

In light of Stonehill's Catholic identity, sponsorship by the Congregation of Holy Cross, and history as an open and inclusive community, the Stonehill Prayer Book will feature prayers, meditations, quotations and scriptural passages both from the Catholic tradition and from the great world religious traditions. The book will also include materials related to the spirituality and charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross and its founder, Blessed Basil Moreau.

Nominations of Classical, Traditional and Contemporary Texts

Students, staff, alumni, faculty, trustees and administrators are invited to submit their recommendations for the inclusion of prayers, poetry, scriptural passages and quotations from spiritual masters.

Topic Areas

The range of possible topics is as all-encompassing as the breadth of prayer itself. Thus, feel free to submit for consideration any text that embodies the spiritual dimension of the human person reaching out for encounter with God. Since the Stonehill Prayer Book is meant principally for the use of the members of the Stonehill community, included texts will relate to search and discernment in the context of a "community of scholarship and faith" ordered to the creation "of a more just and compassionate world."

Submission Deadline

Please submit your nomination of a classical, traditional or contemporary text by Monday, February 2nd to the Mission Office in the Chapel of Mary building or by e-mail to tlooney@stonehill.edu. If possible please include bibliographic information for its source, as well as the complete text itself.

Review Process

All nominations will be reviewed by the Stonehill Prayer Book Committee for possible inclusion. The committee will include students, administrators, faculty and staff. The publication date has not yet been established.
