Traditional or Paper Format
A couple of times a year, faculty identify books, videos and journal articles that are important material for students in their classes to read during the semester. In order to ensure that these materials are available to all students in a timely manner, they are placed on Course Reserves. The MacPháidín Library has two type of Course Reserves systems - one is electronic and one is traditional or shelf based. For help or more information on our Online or Electronic Course Reserve system (ERes), please click here.
Traditional or shelf-based reserves consist of actual books, videos or articles that are housed behind the Circulation Desk in the library. In order to use this material, students must come into the library with their Stonehill ID and ask for the items at the Circulation Desk. Students can search for reserve material in our online catalog.
To search the online catalog for reserve items:
---
- Click on the reserves button from the online catalog home page.
- Search for reserve material either by professor's name or the name of the class that you are taking.
To get material on reserve:
---
- Once you have the title on the item (from either the online catalog or the binder at the Circulation Desk) ask one of the staff at the Circulation Desk for the item.
- Student IDs are required in order to borrow material.
- Your ID will usually be held at the Desk until you return the item.
Things to note:
---
- Reserve items usually have short borrowing periods. Most materials are only allowed to circulate for 2 hours and must be used within the library. Some items are available for students to use for 24 hours, while others can be borrowed for 3 days. Please make sure that you note the loan period on the item you borrow.
- You can be fined for overdue reserve items. The fine is $.50 per hour with a maximum fine of $5.00.
- Calculators, white board markers and headphones are available at the reserve desk. These items are only available to 2 hour loan and must not be removed from the library.
