The New Residence Hall Building Project

undefined

New Residence Hall - NOW OPEN!

Stonehill College worked with the architectural firm The S/L/A/M Collaborative and construction manager Walsh Brothers to build a five-story, 250 bed, suite style residence hall located south of Corr Hall. The suites house 6 - 10 students in double and single occupancy rooms and include bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a common living space. The building itself has common spaces, study rooms, a chapel, and laundry facilities.

This project also included extending the road from its current ending point by Corr Hall and Notre Dame du Lac out towards Route 123. This road will act primarily as access for emergency and services vehicles, but will be open during key logistical periods such as move-in and move-out. It includes a turnaround in front of the New Residence Hall that increases the green space between the New Residence Hall, Corr Hall, and Notre Dame du Lac and creates a sense of community around these buildings. The turnaround also highlights the historic mill stones located near the building site.

Schedule

The design development phase was completed in March, and site work began in mid-June of 2009.  Building construction began in September of 2009 and wrapped up in June of 2010. We just completed work on the interior fit out, and the building is ready for move in.
