New Child Care Center Opens for Employees
October 30, 2008

Stonehill recently opened its own fully licensed Child Care Center in partnership with Lynch & Lynch, P.C., located near campus. With each passing week more and more employees are taking advantage of this benefit.
Last year, the College was contacted by Lynch & Lynch, which owned and operated the then Bristol Day Care Center, to see if it would be interested in the partnership.
"Through its mission, the Stonehill Child Care Center offers employees a warm and caring environment for their children. We are thrilled to be able to provide Stonehill faculty and staff members with this opportunity," said General Counsel Thomas V. Flynn, Esq., who oversees the Human Resource Department at Stonehill.
Stonehill employees can enroll their children with considerable cost savings, with additional discounts available for enrolling multiple children. One employee who has taken advantage of this is Director of Community Service & Volunteerism Nuala Boyle, who has enrolled all three of her children.
"I enjoy having all of my children at the Center, playing alongside my colleagues' children. It is a great environment for my children and I like the idea that as an employee and a parent, I can be so involved," said Boyle.
Boyle's 2 ½ year old daughter Maeve plays and interacts with Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations Marie Kelly's 2 ½ year old son Ian in the toddler classroom each week. Boyle's five month old twins Aisling and Rónán are also enrolled.
One thing that attracted Kelly to the center is not only its close proximity to her home and her job, but the level of experience several of its licensed teachers have.
"Ian's toddler classroom teacher has been with the center for six years and remained on board through the partnership," said Kelly. "It's great to have her there because she has been there for so long and she knows the Child Care Center well."
Employees are not the only group benefiting from the Child Care Center as several Stonehill students majoring in Early Childhood Education are getting hands-on experience working at the center.
"It's great for my son to have exposure to the Stonehill students since their energy and enthusiasm is so high. They are bringing everything they are learning in the classroom and applying it to their work at the center," said Kelly.
While enrollment is filling up quickly, space is still available. The Center accepts infants as young as eight weeks old to preschoolers up to age five. It is licensed to hold seven infants, nine toddlers and 13 preschool children.
