Monday Morning Update

September 22, 2008

New Faculty: We devote this issue of the Monday Morning Update to introducing our newest faculty members. With the appointment this summer of 19 new professors and one faculty fellow, the College is meeting its strategic goal of increasing the number of faculty members. Today, Stonehill has 143 full-time faculty members.

Orientation: The College welcomed the new faculty members at a special two-day Orientation before classes started that was organized by the Dean of the Faculty Joe Favazza and the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Stacy Grooters. More than 35 faculty, staff, and administrators participated in Orientation, helping the new faculty members get settled.

Encouraging Innovation: In her remarks at Orientation, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Katie Conboy told the new faculty members that, as a young college, Stonehill has the flexibility to "say yes" to their innovative ideas. She encouraged the new faculty to bring their great ideas forward, because the College will take them seriously and wants to support them.
