Dunne returns to his alma mater, Stonehill, after completing a Ph.D. from Brown University that focused on modern United States cultural, social, and urban history. His minor areas of study were in U.S. foreign policy and modern Britain.
At Brown, Dunne served as a teaching assistant for courses such as American History Since 1877, Modern Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity, and Empire to Cool Britannia: Twentieth Century Britain.
The recipient of several Brown fellowships, Dunne was awarded the New York University Center for the United States and the Cold War Dissertation Fellowship and the Eisenhower Foundation Research Travel Grant.
