Joseph W. Martin Outstanding Senior Award

Each year, The Martin Institute honors a graduating senior committed to public service with the Joseph W. Martin Outstanding Senior Award.

The award is an on-going tribute to the legacy of former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Joseph W. Martin, Jr., a member of Congress from a neighboring congressional district who had a close relationship with the College. Martin received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Stonehill in 1955.

The Martin Institute's mission is to prepare students for leadership as active citizens in service to an improved human community. The Outstanding Senior award is designed to recognize Stonehill seniors who are pursuing graduate work or service opportunities, have demonstrated their academic and leadership capabilities and have, during their years at Stonehill, engaged the pressing issues of our time. The Martin Award consists of a public announcement, plaque, and a cash award of $500 as well as recognition at the Annual Student Life Awards ceremony in April.
