Foreign Language Placement Exam Information

Foreign Language Placement Exam
Stonehill College requires 1 year of foreign language study at the college level for all students. We request that you take the foreign language placement exam whether or not you plan on studying a language this fall. If you studied more than one language in high school, you may take exams for multiple languages.

About Your Foreign Language Placement Level

The semester placement you receive online after you complete the exam may not correspond to the level you will be assigned at Stonehill.

The Foreign Language Department will also evaluate your high school grades and years of study when placing you in the appropriate level of the language.

Faculty members from the Foreign Language Department will be available during Orientation to answer any questions or concerns about your placement. Students may also elect to take the elementary level of a foreign language they have not previously studied.

What You Will Need in Order to Take the Exam

In order to take the exam, you need your 9-digit Stonehill ID # (begins with 66 or H8) which you should have received in the email we sent to all new students and in your orientation packet.
