Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Stonehill College is committed to the health and well-being of our employees and we are pleased to offer to our employees, their dependents, and household members confidential access to Health Resources, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

What is the EAP?

The EAP is a confidential counseling service providing professional help to employees and their family and household members for any type of personal problem.  The EAP is staffed by licensed professional counselors who are experienced working with a wide range of personal problems.

What kinds of problems does the EAP help with?

Whether you are currently in need of advice or someone to talk to, or are planning for whatever the future may bring, the EAP is designed to help with "human problems."  These are the issues that affect personal health and happiness and eventually work and family life.  The EAP is a wonderful resource for dealing with, among other things, stress, couples issues, parent/child issues, elder issues, financial or legal difficulties, and problems cause by dependency on alcohol or drugs.

In addition, they provide services to supervisors and managers to help with day-to-day issues and questions about employees that arise.

Some examples may include:

-  You have concerns that your child is involved with drugs

-  You want to plan in the event that your elderly parents can no longer care for themselves

-  You can't seem to get control of your finances

-  You're feeling down and you can't seem to shake that feeling

-  As a supervisor, you need help determining the next step with an employee

Is the EAP confidential and what does it cost?

Yes, the EAP is completely confidential and it is voluntary.  No one will know of your participation unless you tell them.  There is also no cost to you or members of your household.  The EAP is an employer paid benefit.  However, if additional professional help is recommended by the counselor, there may be a cost for that service.  Many professional services are covered either partially or totally by health insurance.
