Diversity Interview Questions
Today's career and graduate school market are growing more and more competitive. Many employers and admissions committees state "demonstration of diversity" as a top priority. Here are a few good questions to prepare (or have experiences about which you can discuss) regarding diversity:
1. How do you define "diversity" in your community?
2. Give me an example of a time when you had to effectively communicate with someone who was "different" than you.
3. What does it mean to have an inclusive community? In what ways have you contributed to one?
4. What are some examples of successful diversity programs you have planned or participated?
5. What is the importance of diversity in a graduate school/work environment to you?
6. Give an example of a time when you were not able to effectively communicate with someone who was different from you? What was the outcome?
